In this prompt we had to us a sample that was over 50 years old. I used a few seconds from a 1959 Paul Anka song. This is the first sample-based song I ever made. The lyrics were mostly stream of consciousness, impromptu, and some the the lines make me feel sad when I hear them. I did not get permission to use this sample, so please don't tell Mr. Anka.
lyrics
When we get through this current phase,
will we see what we really want?
When the time comes to organize our thoughts,
we'll put them all in columns.
When the sky is clear, how far can we see?
Can we see the mountains so far away?
When the money is gone can we still exist?
Can't we all just agree that money is a joke!?
When we get to travel once again, how far we really go?
When we say enough is really enough,
will anybody take the time to hear us?
When we pick ourselves up, how much will we weigh?
How tall will we be when we stand up nice and straight?
When I lie down at night will I fall asleep,
and not toss and turn like I've tended to do?
When the pictures of you come into my mind again
will I laugh or cry or feel nothing at all?
When your love finds me will I be there,
or will I have just missed it yet again?
We're pushing so hard, and if you can't take anymore,
you'll have to say when.
